Piazza Fontana massacre in Milan.
On 12 December 1969, terrorist bombs went off in Italy.
17 people were killed in what was known as the Piazza Fontana massacre.
These bombings teach us about terrorism.

In other words, the idea was to keep the rich fascist elite in power.
In the case of Italy, the rich elite can mean rich fascist freemasons, and rich fascist oligarchs, and rich Mafia dons.
The strategy of tension was part of the CIA and NATO's Operation Gladio.

In 1998, David Carrett, an officer in the U.S. Navy, was indicted by a Milanese magistrate, on a charge of participating in the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing. (Cached)
The judge also opened a case against Sergio Minetto, an Italian official of the US-NATO intelligence network.
Thirty years after the Piazza Fontana massacre, during a trial of right-wing extremists, General Giandelio Maletti, former head of Italian counter-intelligence, stated that the massacre had been carried out by the Italian stay-behind army and right wing terrorists on the orders of the CIA.

The worst terrorist attack in Italy was in 1980, when a bomb went off in a train station, in Bologna, killing 85 people.
According to the Italian Senate, after its investigation of the Bologna massacre in 2000, the bombers were "men inside Italian state institutions and ... men linked to the structures of United States intelligence."
Four Italian fascists, allegedly with links to the security services of Italy and the USA, fled to Britain.
They were tried in their absence in Italy, found guilty and sentenced to long terms of imprisonment.The Italian government tried to have the four extradited.
Britain would not hand them over.

In connection with the bombings in Italy, a number of secret service agents were put on trial in Italy in 1974, but all were acquitted in 1985 following numerous trials and appeals.
A new trial opened in 1999 after a Milan judge, Guido Salvini, claimed to have discovered the real bombers.
Three neo-fascists, Delfo Zorzi, Carlo Maria Maggi, and Carlo Rognoni were sentenced to life imprisonment but the decision was overturned on appeal in March 2004.
The CIA's James Jesus Angleton was one of the founders of Operation Gladio and the strategy of tension.
Reportedly, "Angleton had an alliance with ... the Mafia, dating from 1944 when he was an O.S.S. officer in Italy.
